Bridesmaids director Paul Feig is making a new Ghostbusters movie with female leads. It may or may not be Ghostbusters 3.
This is a pretty substantial development in the Ghostbustersworld. Bridesmaidsdirector Paul Feig confirmed that he's directing a new Ghostbustersmovie. That may or may not actually be Ghostbusters 3, and could be a spinoff. Katie Dippold (The Heat, Parks and Recreation) will co-write with Feig.
Mr. Feig confirmed the news on Twitter.
It's official. I'm making a new Ghostbusters & writing it with @katiedippold& yes, it will star hilarious women. That's who I'm gonna call.

The idea that this might not actually be Ghostbusters 3plays into some of Dan Aykroyd's comments about an expanded Ghostbustersuniverse, too. Recently, Bill Murray went so far as to dream cast his own team of female Ghostbusters, which included names like Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, and Emma Stone.
