Jem and the Holograms are going to be storming the stage earlier than expected with Universal announcing a 2015 release date.
It appears the venue has been chosen for Universal Pictures and Blumhouse Productions’ adaptation of Jem and the Holograms. As announced today by the studio and production company, Jem and her band mates will be storming into theaters on October 23, 2015. Now, all that is needed is an awesome sound system.
Directed by Jon M. Chu, the eclectic helmer of the two most popular Step Up films (Step Up 2 the Streets, Step Up 3D) and not to mention G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Jem and the Holograms might meet the epicenter of the material he approaches: the story of a young woman whose superpower is to transform into an international pop star. Oh, the ‘80s, how we miss thee!
Based on the Hasbro produced animated series that ran from 1985 to 1988, Jem and the Holograms stars Aubrey Peeples as the titular pop star, and also features Molly Ringaold and Juliette Lewis. Stefanie Scott and Kiyoko will also appear as band mates Kimber and Aja.
