Production is set to start soon on the Pete's Dragon remake. And Robert Redford has now been targeted for a lead role...
It's not one of the higher profile remake projects currently active in Hollywood, but it is one that's edging ever closer. We're talking about the new take on Pete'sDragon, previously realised on the big screen by Disney. The new version is also being developed with Walt Disney Pictures, and it already has a director in place. David Lowery, who made Ain't Them Bodies Saints, is set to helm the picture, having also penned the screenplay.
Now we learn that Robert Redford is apparently in talks to star in the new Pete's Dragon too. He'd take on the role of a storyteller who, as you might expect, has a tale or two to tell about dragons.
The film is due to go before the cameras before the year is out, with a New Zealand shoot targeted. Oakes Fegley and Oona Laurence are already cast as Pete, and his friend Natalie.
