Keanu Reeves' John Wick is heading to Steam with Payday 2. Find out how to become the big screen hitman...
John Wick may be opening in theaters today, but the hotly anticipated action film will be blasting onto more than one platform for the most diehard Keanu Reeves fans. Starting today, John Wick is also the name of Payday 2’s latest playable character.
Tying into today's release of John Wick, Starbreeze Studios and 505 Games have collaborated with Lionsgate and Thunder Road Pictures to release the exclusive DLC content on all Steam platforms. This will allow fans to introduce Wick, the reluctant assassin, into the Payday 2 community, which reached its 1.5 million-member milestone earlier this week.
If you purchase a ticket to John Wick right now at Fandango, you will receive a free download of Payday 2 on Steam.
John Wick is the upcoming and much-buzzed about action thriller that features Keanu Reeves as the titular Wick, a former hitman who only wants peace after losing his wife. But when one thug (Game of Thrones’ Alfie Allen) takes things too far and breaks into Wick’s home and kills Wick’s dog—well there is only so much peace John Wick can take. The film also stars Michael Nyqvist, Willem Dafoe, Adrianne Palicki, and Bridget Moynahan.
The release also coincides with Keanu Reeves answering fan questions about the film earlier today via Twitter at #JohnWickand #IMDbAskKeanu.
We continue working with great partners, this time with Lionsgate and their movie John Wick,” said Starbreeze Chief Executive Officer Bo Andersson Klint. “We’ve finally got a real hitman on our team. Being able to play as John Wick in Payday 2 ahead of the movie’s release is a great reward for our loyal Payday 2 community, which reached the final milestone of 1.5 million members in our Payday 2 Steam group before our 12-day Crimefest event.”
Peter Levin, Lionsgate president of Interactive Ventures and Games, agreed that this was a wonderful opportunity for the John Wick property.
“Lionsgate’s entry into the game space is continuing to build momentum with the addition of another great partner and a tremendous piece of IP. We’re delighted to capitalize on this opportunity to collaborate with a world-class partner like Starbreeze whose unique action community includes millions of our target fans.”
