The Avengers sound like they're going to be in a very different place by the end of Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age Of Ultron...
Spoiler warning: we know nothing for definite, but this piece contains speculation about Avengers: Age Of Ultron, Captain America 3, and Avengers 3.
Joss Whedon is currently in post-production on next summer's Avengers: Age Of Ultron, to which a trailer was released last week (we broke it down in detail here). Reports suggest that Whedon won't be directing the third Avengersmovie himself though, which is scheduled for 2018.
However, if that's the case, it won't be the only big change lined up for The Avengers 3. Seemingly confirming rumours that have been doing the rounds for some time, Kevin Feige has revealed that the Avengersline-up itself is set for some changes.
"The Avengers films, ideally, in the grand plan are always big, giant linchpins," he said. "It’s like as it was in publishing, when each of the characters would go on their own adventures and then occasionally team up for a big, 12-issue mega-event. Then they would go back into their own comics, and be changed from whatever that event was."
"I envision the same thing occurring after this movie, because the roster is altered by the finale of this film."
Speculation then suggests that at the very least, Iron Man and Captain America are in very different places come the end of Avengers: Age Of Ultron. And with the pair meeting in Captain America 3, itself described as 'Avengers 2.5', events will apparently lead into the Civil War storyline from the comics, TheAvengers 3 could have quite a different cast then, by the sounds of it. And heck, we've not even got to Thanos yet...
