The first trailer for Despicable Me spin-off Minions lands next week. Here's some promo art and a synopsis to whet your appetite...
Universal will be releasing the first trailer for two of its big 2015 releases over the next seven days. On Saturday, as you more than likely already know, we're getting the first trailer for Fast & Furious 7/Furious 7(depending on where you live). But then a bit later in the week, we'll also get the first full glimpse at Minions.
Minions, and we don't think we're going out on much of a limb here, is a movie we expect to be one of 2015's biggest. Don't bank against a $1bn gross. It's the first spin-off from the Despicable Me films, focusing on the little critters who have been the highlight of both movies in the series to date.
The trailer is expected to land on November 4th, but ahead of that, Universal has released some artwork from the film, and a synopsis for it.
Let's deal with those in turn, then. Here's the artwork first...
And then here's that synopsis...
"The story of Universal Pictures and Illumination Entertainment’s Minions begins at the dawn of time. Starting as single-celled yellow organisms, Minions evolve through the ages, perpetually serving the most despicable of masters. After accidentally killing off so many of them—from T. Rex to Napoleon—the Minions find themselves without a master to serve and fall into a deep depression.
But one Minion named Kevin has a plan, and he—alongside teenage rebel Stuart and lovable little Bob—ventures out into the world to find a new evil boss for his brethren to follow.
The trio embarks upon an adventure that ultimately leads them to their next potential master, Scarlet Overkill (Academy Award® winner Sandra Bullock), the world’s first-ever female super-villain. They travel from frigid Antarctica to 1960s New York City, ending in mod London, where they must face their biggest challenge to date: saving all of Minionkind…from annihilation".
The film has a US release date of July 10th 2015, with Jon Hamm and Sandra Bullock on voicing duties. We get it a little earlier in the UK: it's earmarked for June 26th 2015 over here. We'll be back with the Minions trailer next week...
