Harley Quinn is finally coming to the big screen: and Margot Robbie will be playing her, in Suicide Squad...
We're already got one big piece of casting speculation today with regards David Ayer's upcoming movie for DC, Suicide Squad. Now, Collideris reporting that Margot Robbie - rumoured to be on the casting shortlist these past few weeks - has signed up to play Harley Quinn.
Robbie, last seen in The Wolf Of Wall Street, had been linked alongside Will Smith and Tom Hardy for a role in the film. But apparently she's now on board: she'll be bringing Harley Quinn to the screen, casting that in turn increases the likelihood of a return for The Joker. Harley Quinn, after all, was The Joker's other half at one stage, going on to become a hugely popular character independent of Batman's most notorious nemesis.
Furthermore, Harley Quinn is rare, in that she's a popular Batman villain who hasn't yet been brought to the screen. Expect more casting announcements in due course. And expect Robbie's contract to see her locked down for more than one DC film...
