Oliver Stone has cast Joseph Gordon-Levitt to play Edward Snowden is his new film, which shoots in early 2015...
Oliver Stone's next project as director is to be a movie about Edward Snowden, the National Security Agency contractor who turned whistleblower, exposing the American government's programme of mass surveillance. The film has now been confirmed, and Stone will begin shooting the thus-far unnamed movie in January. That points to a possible release before the end of 2015.
He'd been rumoured to star in the film and take on the role of Snowden beforehand, but it's confirmed now that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is on board the project as well.
Oliver Stone has penned the screenplay for the film, using the books Time Of The Octopus by Anatoly Kucherena and The Snowden Files: The Inside Story Of The World's Most Wanted Man by Luke Harding as his basis.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt remains the only piece of 100% confirmed casting news on the project thus far. Expect other names to sign up in the forthcoming weeks...
