Well, this came out of nowhere. Disney has announced Strange Magic, from George Lucas, no less.
We didn't expect this to happen so quickly. Disney have announced that Strange Magic will arrive on January 23rd, 2015. Strange Magic, you may want to know, is from a story by George Lucas, who is also serving as executive producer.
Strange Magic is a musical fairytale loosely based on A Midsummer Night's Dream, and will use "popular songs from the last six decades "to tell its story about a colorful cast of goblins, elves, fairies and imps, and their hilarious misadventures sparked by the battle over a powerful potion."
It's got quite a voice cast, too, including Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood, and Maya Rudolph. Gary Rydstrom is directing from a screenplay by David Berenbaum (Elf), Irene Mecchi (Brave, The Lion King), and Rydstrom.
Since this was quite a surprise, we figure we'll be seeing a trailer soon. Really soon. We're surprised it wasn't tagged on to Big Hero 6, honestly...
