Johnny Depp showcases a finely groomed mustache and an air of aristocracy for the trailer of his new comedy, Mortdecai.
As of late, Johnny Depp has been looking for the right kind of role—one that can showcase his idiosyncrasies with a creative persona. In short, he may be looking for Mortdecai, a part that appears to be equal elements Inspector Clouseau, Basil Fawlty, and of course Johnny Depp’s own unique blend of eccentricity.
Ostensibly the story is about an art dealer of great (and depreciating) wealth named Mortdecai (Depp), who gets roped in by the government to track down a stolen painting, as well as some Nazi gold along the way. But really it looks like a swinging version of gonzo humor that surrounds Depp with an all-star cast that includes Gwyneth Paltrow, Ewan McGregor, Jeff Goldblum, Olivia Munn, Michael Gambon, and Paul Bettany.
Directed by David Koepp from a screenplay by Eric Aronson, Mortdecai struts into theaters (preferably with a gin and tonic in hand) on January 23, 2015.
