The duo of Kevin Hart and Dwayne Johnson will star in action-comedy Central Intelligence for the studio.
Kevin Hart cannot be stopped. Throw him into any comedy and it’ll attract an audience. Stick him next to a comptent actor playing the straight man, and let the small statured comedian run wild. New Line Cinema will be the next to utilize the comedic sparkplug, placing him next to Dwayne Johnson in the upcoming Central Intelligence.
Hart will star as a former high school football standout turned accountant who’s contacted by a former nerdy, perpetually bullied classmate after many years. Johnson will star as that former nerd, now a stone cold, badass CIA contract killer. Johnson’s character recruits Hart to help him in a mission to foil the selling of military secrets.
Rawson Marshall Thurber (We Are The Millers) will direct Central Intelligence with Ed Helms (The Hangover) producing. Ike Barinholtz and Dave Stassen originally penned the script, but Sean Anders and John Morris were brought on to write a new draft with Thurber overseeing. Surely the script is being tweaked to accommodate Hart’s special skillset.
Johnson will be appearing in multiple upcoming Warner Bros. and New Line projects, like the upcoming San Andreas, the recently announced Shazam film, which will see Johnson portraying Black Adam, and two more Journey to the Center of the Earth sequels. He’ll next be seen in Fast and Furious 7 and HBO’s new series, Ballers.
