The family-friendly franchise has released a new trailer for the upcoming installment: Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb.
The Night at the Museum franchise has been a huge success for 20th Century Fox, always coming around the holidays to line the studio’s pockets with some Christmas cash. It’s no mystery why they’re successful – the films can draw from any colorful character in history to make kids laugh, and the cast always features some star power to keep the adults in the audience intrigued. It’s no different this holiday season with Ben Stiller returning for Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, due in theaters December 19, 2014.
The new trailer highlights some of the new characters in the cast, like Dan Stevens as the quipping knight Lancelot and Ben Kingsley as the Egyptian Pharaoh, along with returning characters like Ricky Gervais as Dr. McPhee and Owen Wilson as Jedediah.
Sadly, the film will feature the final performance of legendary screen actor Mickey Rooney and one of the last performances of Robin Williams, who again returns as the perfectly cast Theodore Roosevelt. The film is directed by Shawn Levy (This Is Where I Leave You) who has been recently attached to the upcoming Minecraft film. Thomas Lennon, of Reno 911 fame, co-wrote the script with fellow Reno and The State alum Ben Garant.
