The Arrow star discusses DC and WB's superhero movie plans, and where he might still fit in.

Stephen Amell has always been a vocal defender of what Arrowhas been building over the last two-plus seasons on television. While the barometer for live-action superhero "legitimacy" still remains big screen success, the man under Green Arrow's hood is understandably proud of what's happening on the show he headlines. But more than that, he believes in Grant Gustin as the Flash.

"I thought that the way that Warner Bros. announced the slate of DC superhero movies could have been handled better," he told AMC Movie Talk. "And I think someone like Grant Gustin, who has just launched an iconic character like the Flash to record-breaking numbers...should have been given a wider berth than two episodes before another actor was announced to play his character."

To be fair, we felt the timing of that announcement was a little strange, as well. The difference between Warner Bros. announcing their schedule at an investor's meeting and Marvel announcing theirs at what was, essentially, a party for fans and press, wasn't lost on anybody. He did temper all this by saying "it's a great plan, overall."

As for the prospects of Amell's Green Arrow ever meeting up with the cinematic Justice League, even though they exist in separate parts of what Geoff Johns called a media "Multiverse" recently, this may raise an eyebrow or two:  "I’ve had some great conversations with Geoff Johns, who is DC’s Chief Creative Officer. We had this conversation shortly after these announcements were made, and I came away from the conversation feeling great."

Please see my own rantings and ravings about the prospect of a DC Cinematic Multiverse right here if you want more on that subject. I still think it's unlikely we'll ever see a full-blown crossover, though. And really...Arrow and The Flash are strong enough shows on their own. Stephen Amell is right.
