Daniel Craig and Sam Mendes are set to start production on the new James Bond film next month - and a big rumour has landed...

Production is finally set to start on the 24th James Bond film in December, with a formal announcement of that expected in the next week or two. The new movie will see Daniel Craig play 007 for the fourth time, this time reunited with his Skyfalldirector, Sam Mendes. Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, and Ben Whishaw are all back for the new film.

One of the new additions to the cast is Christoph Waltz, and over the weekend, a major rumour surfaced regarding the identity of his role. If you want to know more, you'll need to scroll below Daphne the Spoiler Squirrel...

.... still here?

Right then. The Daily Mail isn't our favourite source on planet Earth, but it does have a good track record when it comes to James Bond stories. And it's reporting that Christoph Waltz will be playing Ernst Stavro Blofeld in whatever the new James Bond film ends up being called. Adding that "the producers have changed the character to fit in with the new-look 007," it notes that "the new Blofeld will be just as sinister as earlier incarnations but will be more sophisticated and less 'campy.'"

If this turns out to be true, then Waltz will be treading where Donald Pleasance and Charles Gray have before. The Mail argues that Eon Productions will announce his role to be something else at first, to cover up who Waltz will actually be playing. That kind of policy worked a treat with JJ Abrams'Star Trek Into Darkness, as we recall.

The new James Bond film is currently earmarked for October 2015 in the UK and November in the US. More on it as we hear it.

For an assortment of reasons, we remain no fans of The Mail, a site that hardly has the best track record in linking back to sources. However, it's our policy to do so. Thus, here's the source link at the Mail's website. We just don't recommend that you click on it.
