Jean-Claude Van Damme and Alain Moussi are set to be joined by Gina Carano in the new Kickboxer movie.
Smart casting, this. Whilst fans of the Jean-Claude Van Damme headlined original Kickboxerfilm have hardly been clamouring for a reboot, it helps no end that Gina Carano has been cast in it.
The MMA star is going to play a fight promoter in the new film, building on her previous movie credits that includeFast & Furious 6 and Steven Soderbergh's Haywire. We can't see her sitting behind a desk for much of the film though, and Ted Field of Radar Films has certainly suggested that won't be the case. "It will be fun to watch Gina as the sneaky and dangerous temptress, a boa constrictor of this fighting jungle", he said. "Watch out kickboxers!"
The new film is being directed by John Stockwell, and it was confirmed last week that there will be a role for Jean-Claude Van Damme in it. Furthermore, the cast also features Alain Moussi, Dave Bautista and Georges St Pierre.
Kickboxeris shooting now. We'd suspect it may make it to a cinema screen towards the end of 2015.
