Kirsten Dunst and Jesse Plemons put on their winter gear for Fargo Season 2.
The Fargoseason 2 casting execs at FX nabbed their first perpetrators. Kirsten Dunst from Spider-Man, Interview With a Vampire and Marie Antoinnette, and Jesse Plemons from AMC’s Breaking Badhave signed on to brave those cold northern Midwest winters.
According to Variety, Dunst doesn’t know who she’s playing, no, she’s playing a beautician who is trying to figure out who she really is. Small-town with with big city dreams, ya know. Jesse Plemons is her husband Ed, a butcher’s assistant. He doesn’t quite get his wife, but he’s trying.
Fargo season 2 is pulling back executive producers Noah Hawley, who is also the showrunner, Joel & Ethan Coen, the brothers who go the whole thing started with that scrappy little picture that went on to be a modern day crime classic, and Warren Littlefield and John Cameron.
The next season of Fargotakes place in Sioux Falls, South Dakota and Luverne, Minnesota in 1979. We see Lou Solverson as a young man. He just got back from Vietnam and he’s now a state cop who’s been handed a brand spanking “true crime” case. Solverson was played by Keith Carradine’s character in the premiere season, but older.
The Lou Solverson hasn’t been cast yet, Neither have the roles of Solverson’s wife, Betsy; their four-year-old daughter, Molly; and fellow officer, Ben Schmidt, so if you know of anybody, FX is looking.
The first season of Fargo borrowed liberally from the Coen bruddah movies Fargo, No Country for Old Men and A Serious Man. This season Hawley will explore Fargo, Miller’s Crossing, and The Man Who Wasn’t There.
Fargo will have a ten-episode season next year.
Fargo starts filming in Calgary in January. It should premiere on FX sometime in late 2015.
