Wolverine may yet be back in X-Men: Apocalypse, as Hugh Jackman has been chatting about the character's movie future...
It's no secret that Hugh Jackman hasn't hung up his claws just yet, as he looks set to reprise the role of Wolverine on the big screen for the eighth time - and possibly the ninth. We already know that a follow-up to James Mangold's The Wolverine will be landing in cinemas in March 2017. But rumours abound that Jackman will be making another return in X-Men: Days Of Future Past follow-up X-Men: Apocalypse, which director Bryan Singer is putting together in time for a summer 2016 release.
So, Hugh Jackman, are you involved inX-Men: Apocalypseat all? "I have been speaking to the guys, but I'm not at liberty to tell exactly what's going on, which is largely framing my answer here," he told MTV. "But there's still a lot unknown about that, actually."
He further teased that "there are some very exciting things about integrating the wholeX-Men world, including the Wolverinemovie. There's some really cool things going on".
Which sounds intriguing. Perhaps there might be a firmer crossover between Jackman's standalone Wolverine adventures, and the main line of X-Men films. Either way, we'd suggest from the tone of what he's saying that Jackman has a sporting chance of popping up in some form inX-Men: Apocalypse, although we don't expect to find out for certain for some time. He did say of the next standalone movie that "I'm very, very excited about that, actually", but that doesn't tell us much either. Ho hum.
X-Men: Apocalypselands in cinemas on May 27th 2016, and the next Wolverinefilm strikes on March 3rd 2017.
