Fan favorite author Neil Gaiman has a fan favorite actor he'd like to see take on the role of Morpheus in the Sandman movie.

The Sandmanmovie is moving right along, and is probably closer to production than it's ever been. The film has a screenplay by Jack Thorne and David Goyer that it's happy with, with Joseph Gordon-Levitt producing (and possibly directing). What it needs now is a star.

Well, speaking to Radio Times, Sandmancreator Neil Gaiman offered his own thoughts on who should play Morpheus. After first commenting that he felt Benedict Cumberbatch as Sherlock Holmes felt "incredibly Morpheus" he pointed out that "Tom Hiddleston is still out there...anyone who sounds English with great cheekbones can probably pull it off."

I'm sure that fans would be happy with either. For that matter, so would Warner Bros. studio execs who will probably be looking at Sandmanas the magical replacement for Harry Potter once Fantastic Beastshas run its course. No word yet on a release date, but we'll keep you posted.

Hat tip to ComicBook.com for the tip on this.
