Colin Trevorrow explains why he's not making a copy of the earlier Jurassic Park films with Jurassic World...
This piece contains a very mild spoiler for Jurassic World.
If you've seen the trailer for next summer's Jurassic Parksequel, Jurassic World, then you'll already know that one of the big new additions to the dinosaur line-up this time is a newly-minted dinosaur species. The so-called D-Rex takes its place alongside the more familiar dinos in the park, and it was broadly hinted at in the first trailer for the movie, that landed three weeks ago.
Director Colin Trevorrow has been talking about the new creation in a new interview at Entertainment Weekly, and he said that "there are dinosaurs and there's the other - there's this thing that is not one of them, that is not of them."
He added that "there's a lot of bold new ideas in this movie, and I'm pushing it as far forward as I can. I know Steven [Spielberg] didn't want me to make a carbon copy of the earlier films. So we're going for it."
You can see the fruits of Colin Trevorrow and his team's labours next May, when Jurassic World lands in cinemas...
