Marvel Studios is going all out in Ant-Man marketing, including these four new stills featuring stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas.
NewsI guess the jokes are over. After being cutesy with tiny trailers and microscopic posters, Marvel Studios is going full-out with their next solo superhero movie. And judging by the trailer and press material, Ant-Man wants you to know that it is a serious origin story.
Following this week’s straight-laced trailer, the next Marvel movie is growing into a giant with images gracing EW. Below are four new Ant-Man images that feature stars Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly. That suit doesn’t look too bad either.
Ant-Man follows the adventures of Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), who carries on in the footsteps of his mentor and the original Ant-Man, scientist Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas). Using technology that allows Scott to both shrink and grow to fantastic and unimaginable sizes, the new Ant-Man must give up his early life of grifting in order to help Dr. Pym and his lovely daughter Hope Van Dyne (Evangeline Lilly) combat the forces of evil.
The Ant-Man movie has infamously had a long production life at Marvel Studios where it first was being hatched by comedy-action auteur Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz). Wright was writing and directing the film up until last year when he and Marvel abruptly parted ways. The film is now being helmed by Peyton Reed (Bring It On, Down with Love) and has multiple names attached to the current screenplay including Joe Cornish and Adam McKay.
Ant-Man will be in theaters on July 17, 2015.
