The hugely-promising Me And My Shadow may be back on DreamWorks Animation's schedule. Tom Hiddleston is linked, too.
NewsBill Hader and Josh Gad are good animation voices, and Disney knows it. Hader has a whole string of Pixar gigs coming, and Gad was a smash-hit with Olaf in Frozen.
Back in 2012, though, they were both voicing a Dreamworks Animation movie that went on hold - at least for a while. Me And My Shadowwas to see Gad voice Stanley, a timid man who works in a light bulb testing factory, and Hader was to voice Stan, his living, autonomous shadow. It was scheduled for release in March 2014, until it was wiped from the calendar and taken back to drawing board for a bit of a rethink.
Now the film is apparently coming together nicely, though it's not clear if Hader and Gad are still involved, nor Kate Hudson who was to play Heidi in the film. It'd be a surprise if DreamWorks let such talent go, though.

Some concept art for the film has popped up online recently over at Film Divider. It also searched up a GIF showing a little bit of test animation for the film.
Where this test animation is all hand drawn, and Dreamworks films are typically all CG, plans for Me And My Shadow are for the full film to combine the two. The shadow realm will be hand animated, the real world created in CG, and the shadows hand animated over the CG real world.
According to the site, Tom Hiddleston has been rumored for the role of the chief villain, an evil shadow who probably wants to turn all the lights out or some such inky black badness, but it's not sure if it's true yet. Sounds like another good pick, though.
There's no official release date for the film just yet, though hopefully things are working out a lot better now Dreamworks have given the picture some more development time. The cartoony potential of the shapeshifting hand drawn shadows alone has us very intrigued by this one.
