Boyhood, Michael Keaton, and The Grand Budapest Hotel all took home top prizes at the Golden Globes. We have the complete list...
NewsIt was a big night in Tinsletown this year as all gathered to celebrate(?) the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and the 72nd Annual Golden Globes Awards. At least everyone were clearly enjoying the only awards show party that lets them have booze while winning and losing.
Boyhood and The Grand Budapest Hotel were the big winners of the night, each earning the ability to be labeled the "Best Motion Picture" of the year in their respective categories of Drama and Comedy/Musical. However, while Richard Linklater also earned the Best Director statuette for his work on Boyhood, the HFPA spread the love to Birdman as well, which picked up the Golden Globes for Best Screenplay and for Michael Keaton!
What this means for the Oscar race is anyone's guess, as the Golden Globes like to go in other, more celebrity-catching directions. I still tend to think Birdman is Boyhood's biggest rival, but with more "traditional" awards fare like The Imitation Game and Unbroken failing to live up to expectations, I'd say it's safe to call Boyhood the frontrunner at this point. The complete list of winners and nominees are below.
On a special aside, George Clooney's acceptance speech paying tribute to Lauren Bacall and Robin Williams (as well as Je Suis Charlie) was a very nice touch.
