Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of 22 Jump Street, talk about their interest in seeing a crossover with Men in Black...
NewsWe made the choice not to publish stolen information in the wake of last year's Sony hacking. However, an increasing amount of that genuine news is now entering the conversation as official and public. One such example has been news about Sony’s bizarre idea of making a crossover between Men in Black and their new 22 Jump Street franchise starring Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum. However, the report is now officially entering the public conversation since MTV got the co-directors of both 21 Jump Street and its sequel to admit there have been discussions for crossover. Further, they refused to rule out the idea from happening down the road.
While chatting with Phil Lord and Chris Miller at the Golden Globes, MTV learned that there might be extraterrestrial room for Schmidt and Jenko just yet.
“Nothing’s changed,” Lord said when asked about the crossover. “It’s still a crazy idea, and we only do thing that seem like they’re going to be terrible.”
Lord continued, “We’re really focusing on what’s a great story for Schmidt and Jenko, and how to tell the next chapter in their lives, and perhaps use creatures from another world at the same time.”
It sounds like at the very least aliens are on the table. And personally, the idea of Will Smith playing second fiddle to the antics of Hill and Tatum has a kind of charm for me…
We’ll keep you informed whether this franchise-collision is still on its way.
