Matthew Vaughn has seen Josh Trank's Fantastic Four reboot, and we should expect a trailer very soon.
Here we are, now less than eight months out from the release of the new Fantastic Four movie, and there still has not been a single official image released. At this point, saying that's "not a good sign" would just be repeating the same thing that the entire internet has been harping on since SDCC 2014, so I'll keep my mouth shut. Nevertheless, it appears that's about to change.
The Projection List are speculating that the first Fantastic Four trailer will appear with 20th Century Fox's Kingsman: The Secret Service, which opens on February 13th. They're the same ones who made the call that Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice will see its first teaser appear with JupiterAscending, something that still hasn't been confirmed by Warner Bros., but that looks increasingly likely every day. Kingsmanmakes sense, as it's not only a comic book adaptation that should push many of the same demographic buttons that Fantastic Four is expected to, but it's also directed by Matthew Vaughn, credited as a producer on the new FF movie.
And speaking of Matthew Vaughn, he's seen the Fantastic Four flick, and spoke to Flickering Myth about it. "It's good," came his ringing endorsement. He did, at least, elaborate a little:
“I thought Chronicle was a fantastic movie and [Josh] Trank has gone off and done his version of Fantastic Four. If you like Chronicle, then you’ll like this. We’re all backing Josh Trank’s vision. And hopefully the world will like Josh Trank’s vision.”
Hopefully. We'll just leave that there and let the internet do the rest. We've already agonized over this movie's prospects here.
