Community creator Dan Harmon says, “I would never make the mistake of planning ahead about the movie”...
News"Six seasons and a movie" has long been the fan mantra (fantra?) amongCommunityfollowers. And since Yahoo resurrected the show for a sixth season, you could be forgiven for assuming that the movie was a sure thing, too.
Alas, such is not the case. Although Sony TV chief Zack Van Amburg said previously that "there's no way we're not making the movie now,” the show's creator Dan Harmon is less certain.
"I would never make the mistake of planning ahead about the movie or anything," he said. "I'll wait until it organically is actually going to happen, because who knows what will have changed by then."
After joking that Yahoo would boost Community’s fame to the level of becoming “a big news item in the Wall Street Journal,” Harmon jokingly laid down some theories about the definitely-not-confirmed film.
"Justin Lin, who did the first paintball episode, will come back and will do an amazing movie that even people that are unfamiliar with Community will go, 'This is the best movie I've ever seen in my life'. That's my plan, but I'm also open to God's plan."
Although he was definitely joking, Justin Lin would be a good bet if the movie ever does happen, but the Russo brothers would be equally welcome.
More Community news as we hear it. The show returns, via Yahoo Screen, on the 17th of March.
