The Blair Witch Project 3 looks like it's edging forward. At least according to its co-director...
NewsOne that we perhaps should have included on our piece looking at sequels stuck in development hell is the long-mooted Blair Witch 3. The plan with this one was that Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sanchez, the duo behind the original The Blair Witch Project, would return to try and right some of the many wrongs of Blair Witch 2: Book Of Shadows(see: sequels that damaged the ending of the previous film).
So: where is the film? Still coming, as it happens.
Eduardo Sanchez has revealed to Dread Central that "we have been talking to Lionsgate and there has been a little bit of movement but nothing is concrete."
He added that "the film seems inevitable to me, but really it’s just a matter of it being the right time. I’m thinking it’s going to happen sooner than later at this point, but I always say that."
So when should we expect things to get going on Blair Witch 3? "It wouldn’t surprise me if something happened within the next year or two," said Sanchez.
There's a danger, of course, that this ship has long since sailed. It's not as if others haven't picked up the found footage mantle (our metaphors are getting worse too). But we'll keep you posted.
