Mark Millar, who has written his share of Fantastic Four comics, has some words of encouragement about the Josh Trank Fantastic Four reboot.
NewsMark Millar has a vote of confidence for Josh Trank and 20th Century Fox's seemingly embattled new Fantastic Four movie. Millar, perhaps best known as the writer of the Kick-Ass comic and the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service (he also served as producer on both films), is listed as a "creative consultant" for the Fantastic Four reboot. We can assume that means he's seen some of the film.
In an interview with Sky Movies, he makes his case to trust Fox and director Josh Trank:
Here's the bit we find the most interesting:
"What Fox do that's very clever is they'll get a great director on board. A lot of people just trust the character and think "this brand will be fine" but you can't trust the brand, because the brand can be done well or done badly. But if you get a good director, that's the cornerstone that you build everything on."
He then rattles off names like Bryan Singer and James Mangold in the same breath as Josh Trank, which seems like a vote of confidence. "It all seems in very good hands...the work stands or fall based on the director." Keep in mind that Mr. Millar was a major factor in Marvel's Ultimate Fantastic Four comic, which it appears that the new movie owes a considerable debt to.
