If Joss Whedon won't direct Avengers 3 and Avengers 4...who will? We bet we can guess....
NewsJoss Whedon is probably going to unleash something impressive on fans with Avengers: Age of Ultronon May 1st. The director demolished expectations (and more than a few box-office records) with the first Avengersfilm, and we can't imagine the next one will be any less of a success. The next act of the Avengers story is the two part Avengers: Infinity War, scheduled for 2018 and 2019. Well, they'll need a new director, from the sound of things.
In an interview with Empire(which comes to us via Flickering Myth), Whedon expressed doubt that he'll be back for two more installments.
“I couldn’t imagine doing this again. It’s enormously hard, and it be, by then, a good five years since I created anything that was completely my own. So it’s very doubtful that I would take on the two-part Infinity War movie that would eat up the next four years of my life. I obviously still want to be a part of the Marvel Universe – I love these guys – but it ain’t easy. This year has been more like running three shows than any year of my life. It is bonkers.”
It's hard to blame him. This certainly adds fuel to the fire that Joe and Anthony Russo, who helmed the acclaimed Captain America: The Winter Soldier and are currently hard at work on the upcoming (and character packed) Captain America: Civil Warwill take the helm for Avengers: Infinity War - Part One and Avengers:Infinity War - Part Two. They're set for release on May 4th, 2018 and May 3rd, 2019 respectively. We have a complete Marvel movie release calendar right here.
