Ryan Reynolds Talks Deadpool Movie Budget and More

The Deadpool movie sounds like a labor of love for all involved, and Ryan Reynolds isn't worried about it in the slightest.

News

Ryan Reynolds hasn't been overly chatty about the Deadpool movie since it was officially confirmed that the movie was back on. That's in stark contrast to Wade Wilson himself, but that's okay. That's about to change, as the film should begin production in March.

Reynolds sounds confident in the whole thing, telling MTV that "it’s happening the right way, and that’s all that matters." Fox seem a little more willing to make chancier, smaller superhero movies than their Marvel counterparts (see the Gambitmovie's October release date and reportedly scaled down story, for example), and that also seems to be the case with the Deadpoolmovie. “We don’t have the kind of money that most superhero movies do, but that’s great. Necessity is the mother of invention. That’s why we get to make the movie we want to make.”

It does at least sound like this is more or less the same movie that Reynolds, director Tim Miller, and writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick been trying to make for all this time. “You’ve got to have faith in the people you’re working with and the prep. On this one, the prep’s been 11 years so you’d like to think you’ll put your best foot forward, but we’ll see.”

If you've read Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick's script, you might understand why Reynolds has faith. The hilarious test footage from the Deadpoolmovie was taken from a few pages of that, so you should have an idea of the tone they're going for.
