NewsLiam Hemsworth, brother of Thor, could also be fighting beings from other planets. The Hunger Games star has reportedly been extended an offer for a role in the Independence Day sequel.
The reporting comes from The Wrap, who were told by multiple individuals familiar with the Will Smith-less project.
Rumors of a sequel have been traded around like baseball cards for years, and now that it’s picking up some momentum it’s a fun exercise to speculate on who will be in the film and what it could look like. It is confirmed that Roland Emmerich, the original director, is helming the sequel. Despite no Will Smith, Jeff Goldblum said he will return. The film will take place 20 years after the original with a new alien invasion.
Hemsworth appears in every Hunger Games film and has three projects on his slate for 2015. If you’re confusing him for the guy who plays Thor, that’s his brother, Chris.
Independence Day 2 is set to hit theaters on June 24th, 2016.
