Chris Pratt gives a thumbs-up to the John Wick team for Cowboy Ninja Viking.
Everyone wants to be in the Chris Pratt business these days, including co-directors David Leitch and Chad Stahelski, who according to Variety are in talks to get behind the camera for Pratt’s next possible franchise starter, Cowboy Ninja Viking. Stahelski and Leitch made their directing debut last fall with John Wick (although Leitch was not credited as a director), which not only did much better than expected at the box office but reminded the world what a cool, stylish action movie and star (Keanu Reeves) could look like.
The pair have apparently already had a meeting with Pratt and earned his approval (it’s pretty amazing that he already gets director approval, actually), so Universal Studios has made them an offer they probably won’t refuse. The movie, based on the graphic novel by writer A.J. Lieberman and artist Riley Rossmo, follows a mentally unstable man who is turned into a super-soldier via a secret government program and given the abilities of a cowboy, a ninja and –- ah, you get it.
If Cowboy Ninja Viking takes off with the public, we’re looking at seeing a whole lot of Pratt in the years to come. Not only does he have more Guardians of the Galaxy adventures ahead, but he could potentially star in another Jurassic Park-related film if this summer’s Jurassic World takes off. And don’t forget those reports that Disney wants him to play a rebooted Indiana Jones.
In other words, it’s looking more and more like Pratt’s world and the rest of us just get to watch him in it.
