Disney is indeed bringing Frozen to the stage, and it may well appear in a theatre next year...
NewsIn a surprise to, well, nobody, Disney continues to press ahead with a stage musical of its biggest animated film ever, Frozen. And it's a little bit closer than we might have thought.
The Mail's Baz Bamingboye, whose spider-senses on such stories tend to tingle in the right places, has reported that the plan is to have the Frozen musical in a theatre by 2017.
Oscar winners Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez are adapting the music for the show, and have written new songs for it. The film's writer and co-director, Jennifer Lee, is penning the book, and theatre director Alex Timbers has also been involved.
The plan is to get Frozen into a theatre by 2017, and then presumably to have it on Broadway in 2017. Idina Menzel, reads the report, will not be in the stage production.
There's been no further word yet on Frozen 2. But surely it's just a matter of time...
