Will Smith & Margot Robbie: Suicide Squad Script is Changing

Will Smith and Margot Robbie have both confirmed that they still don't have the completed script for Suicide Squad - weeks away from the start of production on the film. Speaking at the UK press conference for Focus, where they both play members of an elite team of criminals (not a million miles away from Suicide Squad), they were asked if their chemistry from that film would influence the DC Comics adaptation.

“We don't what the relationships are actually going to be. It’s ever changing,” answered Robbie, who’s cast as The Joker’s on-again, off-again girlfriend Harley Quinn. “I think we're going to be allies. We're not being secretive we actually just don't know!”

Will Smith went on to explain it’s all part of director David Ayre’s process. “The way that David works is all images, all ideas. He holds the screenplay. He just keeps giving you things about your character. He wants you to be prepared for anything. He only sends you your stuff, so you don't know what's going on with the other characters. I think he wants it to come alive on set.”

Smith, who’s cast as Batman villain and assassin Deadshot, also said that he was now attracted to darker roles. “I like the concept of dubious morals. I like to play in that area. I haven't explored the psychology enough [yet] of someone who can take money to kill people, how he can justify that for himself, [but] those are the types of roles I'm pushing towards.”

They also confirmed that production on Suicide Squad starts in April.
