Scarlett Johansson Surprises With Her Black Widow Role

The next time we'll see Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow will be in this April's Avengers: Age Of Ultron, for director Joss Whedon. And beyond that, the character's going to turn up again in Captain America: Civil War.

In a new interview with W, Johansson has been chatting about what led her to decide to take the Black Widow part on in the first place. But by the sounds of it, it wasn't too tricky a decision.

"People were surprised that I wanted to play a comic book heroine," she admitted, "but I loved Iron Man, and I met with Marvel to see what was possible."

"I had done my research," she added, "and the Black Widow character resonated with me. She is dark and has faced death so many times that she has a deep perspective on the value of life. In the sequel, you learn more about the sadness in her past,"

"Black Widow is a superhero, but she's also human. She's small, but she's strong. It's hard not to admire he."

In the same interview, incidentally, Johansson also admits that she'd love to lend her voice to a Pixar production, but the team there hasn't asked her as of yet. No doubt they're all reading this exact story, and the phone call will now be made. Our usual 5 percent please, Scarlett...
