What do we know about the characters in the Deadpool movie? A little more than we did yesterday, that's for sure...
NewsSo, this Deadpoolmovie is about to go into full on production, which means that it's gonna be chimichanga time on Den of Geek almost every day for the next year. That's cool. We can handle it.
But now a casting sheet for the movie has hit the web, and it reveals a few things we didn't know. There's some stuff we knew, because we're evil spoiler-hounds who have been following this movie like...well...like something persistent and annoying. A rash or something. But there are some surprises here, too.
So, here we go. Official casting description (with fake name) first, followed by our thoughts on who they are...
[RIDGE] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous, violent, vain, insecure and more than a bit of a
dick…. but with a sense of humor. He is not a psychopath, he’s practical but morally neutral—he doesn’t enjoy torturing
people, he just doesn’t care. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
This would be Ajax. Jeff Sneider at The Wrap has Ed Skrein pegged for this role.
[LINDSAY] Any ethnicity, 20s, attractive and worldly. Smart, tough, beautiful but a little bit broken. Nothing has ever been
easy for her and she’s developed a thick skin and cynical outlook. But she’s not a victim—she may not have a great life but
she’s holding it together and does what she needs to get by. She’s got a great sense of humor but it leans heavily towards
irony and sarcasm. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
We're betting this is Vanessa Carlyle, the role that has at least six actresses vying for the part right now.
[SIMON] Any ethnicity, late 20s to early 40s. Quirky, great sense of humor. Smart, funny, but more than a little bit slippery.
Fast talker, always looking to make a buck. He looks out for himself first and foremost, but reveals loyalty at the end of the
day. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SEQUEL OPTIONS.
We're betting on this being Weasel, and Jeff Sneider says this is the role that TJ Miller has signed on for.
[SHIRLIE] African American, late 60s to early 80s. Worldly, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, dry, funny. ROLE
REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.
"Shirlie" is almost certainly Blind Al, Wade Wilson's roommate and comedic foil.
[KATHY] Any ethnicity, early to mid teens. World weary, great sense of comedic timing, sarcastic, droll sense of humor.
ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS.
We haven't a clue who "Kathy" could be. But since Colossus is in the film (see below for more details on him), maybe Kitty Pryde is, too. Keep in mind, this is a character that doesn't ring any bells, and I've read an older draft of the script. Since Gina Carrano has just signed on as Angel Dust, a character who didn't appear in that draft, it's likely there have been plenty of rewrites.
[KEREN] Any ethnicity, early 20s to late 30s. Serious, big, tough. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS
Garrison Kane? He's another member of the Weapon X program, and he fits the "serious, big, tough" mold.
[ALBERT] Any ethnicity, early 30s to early 50s. Big, muscular, dangerous. ROLE REQUIRES THREE SERIES OPTIONS
The easiest one to map this on to is Sluggo, but again, with the rewrites surrounding this version of the film, anything is possible.
We have a visual guide to the characters we know are in the Deadpool movie right here if you want to check it out.
Oh, and since we mentioned Colossus, we should probably point out that Daniel Cudmore, who played the role in X-Men: The Last Stand won't be back in the part for this one.
Thanks everyone for all the support for me 2 reprise the role of #Colossus in #Deadpool but unfortunately it won't be happening for me con't
