Sleepy Hollow's Jill Marie Jones joins Bruce Campbell and his war on the Army of Darkness in Starz's Ash vs. Evil Dead!
NewsAnd the cast continues to build for Starz and Sam Raimi's groovy new straight-to-series order, Ash vs. Evil Dead. Despite being recently described in new press materials as a "nomad" and a "loner," Ashley Williams (emobdied by the Bruce Campbell chin) is developing quite the supporting cast for his unending war with Deadites and the Army of Darkness!
As learned via Fangoria, Jill Marie Jones (who has had a recurring role as Frank Irving/Orlando Jones' wife on Sleepy Hollow) is joining Ash vs. Evil Dead. According to a press release, Jones will play Amanda Fisher, a disgraced Michigan State Trooper that wants justice for her slain partner, a death which she puts squarely at the feet of Ash. However, she'll soon learn that Ashley Williams is worth more to mankind alive than dead when the Deadites come screeching.
Jones also joins Ray Santiago (Meet the Fockers) and Dana DeLorenzo (Growing Up Fisher) in the new series.
For the 10-episode season, Santiago will play Pablo Simon Bolivar, the loyal sidekick to an aged (but still shelf-stocking) Ashley Williams. The press release describes him as a Sancho Panza to Ash’s Don Quixote. DeLorenzo, meanwhile plays Kelly Maxwell, a woman with a past who in the midst of outrunning it finds herself in an even worse situation when battling the forces of Evil alongside Ash and Pablo. Together, they will form a makeshift family of sorts.
Ash vs. Evil Dead, which will be a half-hour comedy, shoots in New Zealand (like the Evil Dead remake) with the aim of premiering later this year. I personally hope that Jane Levy’s Mia makes a guest appearance to team up with the chainsaw-wielding hero.
Ash is the stock boy, aging lothario, and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity, and the terror of the Evil Dead. When a Deadite plague threatens to destroy all of mankind, Ash is finally forced to face his demons—personal and literal. Destiny, it turns out, has no plans to release the unlikely hero from its “Evil” grip.
