The latest, and probably final, trailer for Joss Whedon's Avengers: Age Of Ultron offered yet more clues. We take a deeper look...

News

Yesterday, Marvel released the final Avengers: Age Of Ultron trailer before the film's release. And that means one last look at the interesting things the trailer has revealed. Everyone ready?

Inevitably, some spoilers for Avengers: Age Of Ultron lie ahead...

If You Build It…

"I tried to create a suit of armor around the world," says Tony Stark, accompanied by footage of his trademark robotic arms assembling… something. It's pretty clear by this point that Ultron is the result of Tony Stark's attempt to come up with a way to protect the planet from another Chitauri-style invasion, but is this just one of the drones, or is it Ultron assembling himself?

Of course, the nature of Ultron means that there are going to be a lot of robots to plough through in the third act. Those who didn't enjoy the final battle of the first Avengersmovie, in which the team fought legions of generic aliens who were all deactivated for some reason when they blew up the mothership, probably won't be thrilled with the probable finale of this one. Unless they really like robots.

Okay, Maybe You Would Like Me

It's been hinted at elsewhere, but this trailer more or less confirms a Bruce/Natasha romance subplot, at least on some level. And why not? I mean, you'd have to be a braver man than most to start dating a woman who names herself after a famously male-devouring deadly spider, but then he is the Hulk, he can probably take it. Poor Betty, though.

The Best There Is At What He Does

And what he does is have innovative storage solutions for his arrows. No single shot of any movie has trolled fans hoping for an X-Men/Avengers crossover as hard as this one. Shame on you, Whedon!

The Second Best Quicksilver Appearance Ever

A quirk of licensing gave Fox the ability to use Quicksilver in theirX-Men films as well as Marvel Studios, and Days Of Future Past made it to the screen first. This might be why Quicksilver has been slightly less visible in the Avengerstrailers than his sibling has been. Either way, here's a quick look at Quicksilver using his powers. In all probability, nothing he does is going to be a patch on that scene inX-Men: Days Of Future Past, which made superspeed look considerably more awesome than most would expect. Still, it'll be interesting to contrast the two.

Just Can't Get the Staff

Anyone wondering how Avengers: Age Of Ultron might tie into the Marvel cinematic universe's wider arc would do well to note that following its appearance in the post-credits scene of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (where it was in Hydra's possession), the Avengers will get their hands on the mind-control staff previously held by Loki. Kevin Feige has implied that the gem that gives it its special abilities is one of the Infinity Gems, so we're looking to this movie's post-credits sequence to give us another glimpse of the warlord Thanos.

Vision On

If you've been actively avoiding spoiler-y news reports, you might not know that this red-faced robot is, in fact, The Vision, who will be played by Paul Bettany. In the comics, Vision is an android created by Ultron to fight the Avengers, who later turns on his master and joins the team. He also ends up married to the Scarlet Witch, but we'll go out on a limb and say there's a strong chance this film won't take their relationship quite that far.

Avengers: Age of Ultron is released in the UK on April 23rd, and in the US on May 1st.
