That Big Hero 6 sequel still seems a safe bet to us, as the first hint of a new project is dropped.

News

For the second year running, Walt Disney Animation Studios scored Oscar gold for one of its films, as Big Hero 6 followed in Frozen's footsteps to scoop up some gongage. The movie, directed by Chris Williams and Don Hall, was based loosely on a Marvel comic book series, and even before Big Hero 6 was released, there was talk of a sequel.

Nobody's been in a rush to quash those rumors either, with the assorted creative people behind the film playing a straight bat to questions that came up during the press tour for the movie. Yet as the movie has now become Walt Disney Animation Studio's third biggest grossing film to date, the sequel talk continues.

One of the voice stars of the film, Genesis Rodriguez, is the latest to be asked about it. And she's hinted, in conversation with Screen Rant, that something may be happening.

She was quizzed by the site while promoting the incoming Liam Neeson vehicle Run All Night. And when asked about a Big Hero 6 sequel, she said that "there's rumblings of something else happening," adding that after the success of the first film, "I doubt that they wouldn't want to do another one."

She added that "just like comic books, you could make it a complete different story and the superheroes reunited to attack someone else. So it's a perfect little setup they got for a sequel if they wanted to."

It's only a slight hint that she offers there, but it's perhaps the first sign as such that plans are indeed afoot for more Big Hero 6. As we hear more, of course, we'll let you know...
