
Monty Python will reunite at Tribeca Film Festival for the 40th anniversary screening of Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
NewsMonty Python has been having something of a renaissance over the past year. The legendary comedy troupe performed together live for the first time in years last year and the performance was shown in movie theaters across the globe. The famed repertory players will continue to look on the bright side of life when they celebrate the 40th anniversary screening of their King Arthur comedy Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
The five surviving members of Monty Python, Eric Idle, Michael Palin, John Cleese, Terry Jones and Terry Gilliam, will reunite at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival in New York this April for Holy Grail. Graham Chapman died in 1989.
"The Pythons are looking forward very much to the Tribeca Film Festival and the chance to meet anyone who can remember why we made Monty Python and the Holy Grail,'" Michael Palin said in a statement. "All we know is that it was a documentary about coconuts that rather lost its way. If anyone at Tribeca can explain why we made it and didn't call it 'Braveheart' then our visit to New York will not have been wasted."
Tribeca will also show special screenings of Monty Python and the Meaning of Lifeand Monty Python's Life of Brian, followed by Q&A sessions with assorted Pythons. Monty Python’s Life of Brian will be shown on April 25. The sketch anthology “Monty Python’s Meaning of Life,” will screen on April 26.
Tribeca will also premiere Roger Graef and James Rogan’s documentary Monty Python — The Meaning of Live, which chronicles the group preparating for its 2014 reunion shows at the O2 in London.
Tribeca Film Festival will run from April 15 to April 26. Tickets for the Monty Python Tribeca events go on sale for the very privileged American Express customers, membership has its advantages, on March 23. The rest of us peasants can get their tickets on March 28.
