News“Frozen Fever” may only be an animated short follow-up to Frozen, as opposed to a full fledged sequel, but it still is going to find the time to introduce some new characters that will undoubtedly move plenty of Disney merchandise well into the next Christmas Deep Freeze in December.
Yep, meet the “Snowgies,” who are so cute that the poster already makes you want to give them a hug. It appears that Olaf is about to be a big brother, because Elsa is up to creating snow-based life forms again.
Producer Peter Del Vecho told Yahoo that the characters come to life when Elsa sneezes. They were initially supposed to be like mini Olafs until they realized that they wanted Olaf to remain unique. “So quickly it evolved into these fun little snowballs we call ‘snowgies’ that bring a lot of mischief and fun to the short.”
Well they certainly tend to suggest that Elsa’s ability to create life should take on some biblical connotations past a certain point. But ignoring the Frankenstein shaped elephant in this room, they definitely look adorable—like miniature Stay Puft Marshmallow Men in their infancy.
“Frozen Fever” reunites Jennifer Lee and Chris Buck on directorial duties, and stars the voices of Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, Josh Gad, and Jonathan Groff. It will appear in theaters this Friday in front of the live-action remake of Disney’s Cinderella, which stars Lily James and Richard Madden.
