Joseph Gordon-Levitt will produce and star in a Fraggle Rock movie. This is awesome.
News"Dance your cares away," because the Fraggle Rock movie is back on. It's been ages since we've heard anything about this, but not only is it still happening, it has a star.
That star would be Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who will also produce the movie. Maybe now this will actually get made.
Anyway, if you're too young to remember Fraggle Rock, give it a look. If you've aged out of the core Fraggle Rock demographic and have kids, then you should consider turning them on to this one. Timeless, good stuff, with really excellent musical numbers in virtually every episode.
“The first screen personas I ever loved were Henson creations, first on Sesame Street, and then on Fraggle Rock,” Gordon-Levitt said (via Variety). “Jim Henson’s characters make you laugh and sing, but they’re also layered, surprising, and wise. From Oscar the Grouch, to Yoda, to the Fraggles. I’ve never stopped loving his work, even as a young frisky man, and on into adulthood. Collaborating with Lisa Henson makes me confident we can do something that Jim would have loved. I’m grateful and excited to be working with New Regency on this project.”
The other best thing about this? Not once in the Varietystory (they first broke the news) is the word "reboot" mentioned. You don't mess with perfection.
Who will JGL play? Doc's nephew? Sprocket's new owner? In fact, if Sprocket isn't in this, I will use the full firepower of this website to burn everything to the ground. Sorry, but you can't have a Fraggle Rock movie without Sprocket. Some folks choose changes to superhero costumes or female Ghostbusters as the hill they want to die on...mine involves canine Muppets. Don't judge me.
