It can't be too long now before we get the first trailer for Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice. In turn, that may give us the first footage of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, given that she's debuting the latest take on the character in the movie.

Gadot has been chatting about the role, revealing that she was on a flight to New York when she got the part. "I never had to wait so long for a reply," she said. "It was a month and a half of torture."

Recalling the flight, she said that "when the plane landed I saw I had a lot of missed calls. I called my agent still sitting in the plane with the belt on. She told me 'congratulations, you got the part.'" She was sitting next to a man who had been talking about quantum physics throughout the flight at the time. Said man had to check she was OK after she got off the phone. It would be fair to say that she was quite pleased.

She also responded to the criticisms she faced upon casting, and initial reactions from some fans: "they said that I was too skinny and my boobs were too small."

"When I was younger, I would take criticism really hard," she said. "But it mostly amused me." The interview with Gadot was in an Israeli publication, and she added she had gained a thick skin "after they asked me here, in Israel, if I have eating disorders and why am I so skinny. They said my head was too big and my body was like a broomstick... I can take anything. It’s just empty talk. I understand that part of what I’m doing means being exposed. And part of being exposed is being under fire."

She's clearly excited about the role, however. "Playing Wonder Woman is a once in a lifetime opportunity. I can't describe to you how much I wanted to play this character without even knowing I wanted to play her," she added.

"I don't want to play a damsel in distress that needs to be saved. I don't like it when women in the movies are shown as the victims. I always thought that if I could send out a message I want to show the strong side of a woman and how she can handle tough situations."

Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice is set to arrive in cinemas in March 2016. The (first) standalone Wonder Woman movie is scheduled for June 23rd 2017, with Michelle MacLaren directing.
