Bobby Cannavale reveals that Marvel's Ant-Man movie "felt more like Guardians Of The Galaxy"...
NewsRight now, the focus of attention regarding upcoming Marvel Studios movies is on the imminent Avengers: Age Of Ultron. Joss Whedon's sequel arrives in cinemas May 1st, as it begins its global rollout. Our hopes for the film are not low.
There is, though, a second Marvel feature arriving this summer, and that's Ant-Man. You more than likely know the story so far on this one, that Edgar Wright developed the film over the best part of a decade, before parting ways with the project on the eve of production. Peyton Reed stepped in to direct, after Anchorman's Adam McKay had some rewrite work with Paul Rudd, and things are now set for an end of July release.

One of the members of the cast is Bobby Cannavale, and he's been chatting to Comic Book Resources about the movie. Cannavale plays Paxton in the movie, and his career to date has seen him tackle some interesting smaller productions. This is his first outright blockbuster, and he doesn't hide how baffled he was by shooting parts of it. "There’s blue screen everywhere," he recalled. "I remember one time we were shooting at nights for three weeks. I hadn’t seen anything behind me that wasn’t a blue screen for three nights in a row. I remember one night at four in the morning being frustrated and just saying 'if it’s going to be blue screen all the time, why can’t you just make it be night? Why do we actually have to be here at night?"
However, he added that "the actual work - the scenes with me and Paul Rudd and Judy Greer and Michael Pena - felt like an indie film," and that the script allowed them to improvise.
"It made me feel kind of good, that it felt like Marvel was going for something different. It didn't feel like Thor. It felt more like Guardians Of The Galaxy, which I really enjoyed and I thought brought a certain levity to a superhero movie that I had never seen before."
Ant-Man is scheduled to arrive in cinemas on July 17th 2015, and the cast also includes Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, Corey Stoll, Evangeline Lilly and John Slattery. The full interview with Bobby Cannavale can be read here.
