Vin Diesel looks ahead to Fast & Furious 8, and teases a bigger role for Kurt Russell in the next movie...
NewsSummer blockbuster season effectively kicks off tomorrow, as Universal releases Fast & Furious 7 across the globe. The new film, which we've reviewed here, is expected to be a sizeable hit. And it's little secret that, beyond this one, Universal Pictures has plans for more.
Vin Diesel, chatting on the Jimmy Kimmel Live show, has been dropping a hint about where Fast & Furious 8 will be headed too. Kurt Russell joins the series with Fast & Furious 7, and Diesel says of the actor's role that "I always think of these films [as] multiple pictures at a time."
"Kurt Russell came in for this movie, but we really hired him for a story that follows this, that takes place in New York."
It's unclear just when Universal will be looking to get Fast & Furious 8in cinemas, but we'd imagine it'll target a 2017 release date. Whether James Wan will return to direct isn't certain either. He's moving on to make The Conjuring 2: The Enfield Poltergeist next, although inevitably that'll be a quicker film to turn around than a Fast & Furious sequel.
More on Fast & Furious 8 as we hear it.
