The Wolverine continues to be generous in its plethora of new clips. Sure we have now seen ol’ Logan fighting on top of a speeding train, but this time we see him fighting to survive what appears to be a nuclear explosion. Where’s a refrigerator when you need one?
The clip features Wolverine as a POW during the Second World War when he helps a Japanese captor escape a cloud of death. This is one threat that even Wolverine would have a hard time surviving. But he does.
It’s an interesting scene and promises more of James Mangold’s rustic style than we have seen in previous promotional material. Also, it raises the question if this is indeed in continuity with X-Men Origins: Wolverine. In that film we saw “Jimmy” fight in World War II, but in what appeared to be the European Theatre as opposed to the Pacific. And if they call him Logan in this, it will be right out, just as all the contradictions were in X-Men: First Class.
I suppose that we will find out on July 26 when The Wolverine opens.
