The third Maze Runner movie, Maze Runner: The Death Cure, will follow Scorch Trial by the best part of 18 months.
News20th Century Fox certainly isn't messing around in getting The Maze Runner movies out of the door. The first film arrived in cinemas last year, and the second one - Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials - is landing this autumn.
Now we learn that the third movie - Maze Runner: The Death Cure - has already been scheduled for February 17th 2017. Furthermore, even though this is the concluding part of author James Dashner's story (appreciating he's also written prequels to his Maze Runner books), Fox will not be splitting the final movie into two parts. It's a fair indicator of the state of young adult adaptations that we have to report something like that as a surprise.
Wes Ball has directed the first two movies in the series to date, but it's unclear whether he'll be taking charge for The Death Cure yet. Dylan O'Brien, however, certainly will be returning.
