We popped along to an Avengers: Age Of Ultron press conference, where Joss Whedon and co discussed the movie, and the MCU's future...
NewsAt a swanky hotel yesterday, almost all the Avengers (everyone except Chris Hemsworth) assembled for thirty minutes of chit-chat with assorted press from the UK and Europe. We chipped in with a question (looking for any clues regarding a Hulk movie), but it was sadly batted away with typical Avengers wit (Ruffalo: “shall I tell him? No, I can’t” / Whedon: “it’s too amazing”).
Thankfully, though, some interesting nuggets did come up, including an admission from Joss Whedon that he might not yet be done with Marvel.
The question was about if he’d be back, and what his future plans were. He responded with:
“I don’t think I’ll ever get that far away from it, because I love it so much. After my long rest, I plan a longer rest, and possibly an eternal rest. I have no immediate plans, which is the best thing I’ve ever said.”
Additionally, each Avenger was asked to choose their favorite arc besides their own, with the split being between Hawkeye’s strand and the scenes shared by Mark Ruffalo and Scarlett Johansson.
“Hawkeye’s got a heck of an arc,” said Robert Downey Jnr. “Hawkeye!” agreed Paul Bettany, “for me it was really the heart of the movie.” Mr Ruffalo echoed them, saying “I would also have to say Hawkeye’s storyline,” before going into some mildly spoilery stuff that we won't repeat here.
Ruffalo himself got some praise from his fellow cast members, too. “I liked Scarlett and Ruffalo,” said Chris Evans. This was echoed by Aaron Taylor Johnson, who said “it was great to jump into Banner’s arc. It was emotional.” Again, there’s more to those quotes, but you’ll have to go see it to see what they’re talking about.
