Common has joined the cast of David Ayer's Suicide Squad movie. But who could he be playing?
NewsThe Suicide Squadmovie is currently in production, and it boasts an impressive array of talent playing a number of DC Comics villains and anti-heroes. But what about heroes? Is the addition of Common to the cast a sign that there might be a superhero in the ranks?
The only reason I even bother to mention this is because The Hollywood Reporter, who broke the news of Common's casting, has no information on who he might be playing. But it's worth noting that Common was once set to play John Stewart/Green Lantern in George Miller's Justice League movie. Since the character of John Stewart had a military background before he became a Green Lantern, I suppose there's the off chance that could be how they introduce him to the DC Cinematic Universe, before putting a ring on him in Zack Snyder's Justice League movie in 2107.
Of course, that's all speculation on my part. I'll see if I can dig up anything on Common's role in Suicide Squad, and if I hear anything, I'll update this post.
Suicide Squad is directed by David Ayer and it stars Margot Robbie, Will Smith, Joel Kinnaman, and a load of other folks. Oh, and Jared Leto as the Joker. It's directed by David Ayer. It opens on August 5th, 2016.
