Elizabeth Olsen reveals that she is going to appear in Captain America: Civil War and is preparing for the shoot in Atlanta.
One cannot have much of a civil war between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes if there aren’t a lot of them. Thus the revelation that the third installment in the Steve Rogers series would be called Captain America: Civil War caused some to ponder if the Avengers roster was big enough yet to support the fabled Marvel Comics throwdown. As the cast of that film keeps growing, it’s safe to say that the answer is a resounding yes.
Thus enter Elizabeth Olsen, who revealed Thursday that the Scarlet Witch will be joining the proceedings for Captain America: Civil War.
While attending an event at the Regent Street Apple Store in London, ostensibly about the latest Marvel free-for-all in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Olsen was inevitably asked if she would appear in Captain America: Civil War. And according to E!, she gave a surprisingly straightforward answer.
“I guess I’m allowed to talk about that now,” Olsen said to the crowd. She then confirmed that she will be filming her scenes for the film in Atlanta in two weeks—a definite confirmation that Marvel Studios has yet to make (though that is likely to change at any moment now).
Scarlet Witch is one of the defining characters of Avengers: Age of Ultron, which you can read our review for right here, and is indeed the one mutant-like character who uses her powers to propel the plot forward when she casts some bad juju on the Avengers. Captain America: Civil War will deal with the direct aftermath of Avengers: Age of Ultron when the superhero world of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is torn asunder by a rift forming between Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) and Captain America (Chris Evans). The film will also mark the introduction of the still uncast MCU Spider-Man. Civil War’s roster includes Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), the Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), and Crossbones (Frank Grillo).
The screenplay was written by Christopher Markus and Stephen McFeely, and the picture is directed by Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s Joe and Anthony Russo.
