Fast & Furious 8: New Release Date & Everything Else

When Furious 7 ended (beautifully) with Paul Walker's Brian O'Connor driving one way and Vin Diesel's Dom Toretto driving the other, fans knew that wherever Dom stopped, it would be someplace different.

Well, we're getting closer to knowing exactly where that is (if by at least the year), as it was revealed at Universal's presentation at CinemaCon that Fast & Furious 8 will be opening on April 14, 2017. Diesel, who made the announcement, apparently was holding back tears since the last time that he attended CinemaCon, it was 2013 alongside Paul Walker and they were announcing the upcoming Furious 7.

Said Diesel, "We were giddy and excited. You all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love."

No director is confirmed yet for the film, but we do know that Diesel has previously revealed that Fast & Furious 8 will at least partially take place in New York City and feature the return of Kurt Russell's Mr. Nobody.

As Diesel told Jimmy KimmelLive this month, "I always think of these films [as] multiple pictures at a time." In that vein it makes sense that the mysteirous Russell character, who disappeared in Furious 7 while sitting in a desert, would return.

"Kurt Russell came in for this movie, but we really hired him for a story that follows this that takes placei in New York."

So, we know for sure that we will see that no good (Mr.) Nobody again, and it will be in the Big Apple. There is not much yet to ascertain in the fumes of Furious 7. But as that film has already grossed $1.15 billion (which is Marvel money) in a single month, we imagine there will be plenty more to know soon. And we'll be here to keep you posted!
